Bryan Pietsch is a journalist based in Washington, D.C.

Bryan Pietsch is a staff writer at The Washington Post, where he covers foreign affairs.

Bryan was previously based in Seoul as the inaugural reporter at The Post’s Asia newsroom there, where he covered breaking news, including the Itaewon crowd crush and its aftermath.

Before moving (back) to South Korea, he was a reporter for The New York Times, based in Colorado.

A Korean adoptee, Bryan was born in South Korea and raised in Minnesota. He graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University’s honors college, where he earned a B.A. in journalism and a B.A. in business and completed an honors thesis on press credibility in the United States and Mexico.
